The Incredible Story of Juliane Koepcke

On Christmas Eve, 1971, a 17 year old Juliane Koepcke (above), along with her mother, decided to fly out to Peru, to be with her famous zoologist Father. When the plane was struck by lighting it broke apart throwing it's contents and passengers over the Amazon jungle.

As you can imagine the rest is a truly incredible story. (Follow the link to read article)

If you don't believe me, two movies were made about it, one a documentary by Herzog, called Miracles Still Happen and a movie of the week "Lost in the Green Inferno"

Above is a clip from "Lost in the Green Inferno"

Herzog himself was almost a passenger on the flight back in 1971, as he was preparing for "Aguirre, The Wrath of God"

A truly incredible, and quick read.

(I almost feel like an element of this story might have inspired a portion of "Mr. Lonely")
