The brothers attempted an adventure together. The first night in a youth hostel, they were robbed. Usually, occupants are not allowed to check out of the hostel at night, but the robber had exclaimed that he had been robbed. He went into the final patch of night, and so the brothers started their journey with half their budget. They rented a car to drive out of Europe, through the desert and into Africa. They saved, camped and lived in the great expanse of sand. They reached the Dead Sea where the one road through was blocked by a crane. There was no one else around. They came to the decision that they should drive around the crane and try the shallow waters. The car immediately became stuck in the water, but suddenly a man appeared and used the crane to pull them from their small disaster. They had to pay him for the service and greatly suspected him of a scam. Fifty years later, they wanted to complete the same tracing through the continents.
