Francis Alys "Fabiola" (2007-08)

Francis Alys was asked to do an installation for New York's Hispanic Museum, what he came up with was "Fabiola". Alys meticulously found as many reproductions of a specific painting of Saint Fabiola as possible, a painting to which the original was lost, and installed them at the museum as seen above.

In 1997 Francis Alys pushed this block of ice through Mexico City. I swear.

Francis Alys "When Faith Moves Mountains" (2002)

"Alÿs recruited 500 volunteers outside of Lima Peru Each person moved a shovel full of sand one step at a time from one side of a dune to the other, and together they moved the entire geographical location of the dune by a few inches."
