Favorite: Music Video: "Yellow" - Coldplay (2000)

I know now, being 2009, we can safely look back with perspective and lob criticisms and snide remarks in the direction of Coldplay. But in 2000 and with the sophistication of a 15 year old, I actually really liked Coldplay. I'm soft. What.

Anyway, more than Coldplay, I really like this video, still. In fact, had this video not been made, I probably would have written a treatment like this (which I would have then failed to ever make out of lack of confidence and fear that it was "too soft"). I love the simplicity of the video. It's a shame MTV has uploaded such a poor quality version, but they are the only ones who will let me embed. And we all know that nobody follows the links. (Follow Link here to see it on Youtube.) I wanted to embed in hopes that you reconsider what you think of this video. Pretend it's a video for: insert cool band here.

Anyway, the video was shot at 50 fps, and the time lapse feel of it was done in telecine. The original idea was to feature the stars more, and have them streak over the sky but as they played with it they realized it was perhaps a bit much. They shot the video, quickly and somberly, as it was done on a weekend of one of the Band members mother's funeral. The treatment originally called for clear skies, and the full band. However I certainly prefer what they ended up with.

Enjoy!
